A few questions regarding this...
- Do the hidden chips change rooms during map fast travel for a given player?
Yesterday, this was my last daily task remaining, and believe it or not I turned every room inside-out THREE TIMES without finding them. That’s my maximum effort for this task, after which I give up since it’s so boring, not to mention very time consuming.
It may sound a bit geeky, but to maintain my sanity I keep a checklist of Rooms that I use when looking for hidden chips (same goes for tasks related to Chip Stations, Slots, and also for visiting every Room, see attachment). That said, I’m 100% positive I hit every single area looking for them.
- Can they ever be found in VIP or HR? I’ve seen chips rolling around in VIP, but never the one I’m after. I don’t visit HR very often, so I’m not sure there.
It’s so aggravating not to be able to complete the daily list because of this lone pain in the you-know-where task.

Not everybody has access to VIP or HR, so it would be unfair to hide them in there, thus they never are. They're also never in Bingo or the event room.

Personally, I never have in HR, but I've definitely seen chips rolling around in VP. Why would they be there if they weren't intended as possible hidden chip locations for VP players? Obviously, they aren't in the same location for everyone in the first place.
Back to my original question: I'm wondering if they change rooms already searched while fast traveling around looking for them? Given the situation in my OP, it certainly seems so.

The brown coins that are rolling around are not hidden chips to collect. They're pets, like the cats, dogs, pigs, monkeys and polar bears. The collectable hidden chips don't follow anybody around. They hover in place, and they're shiny.

Hmm, always thought those companions were the blue and white striped chips.

Either way, the pet chips are not the hidden chips
