On PS you click in left analog stick to open, close and put the chat to the bottom. Or you use the squiggly line key ~ (tilde) just above tab key, under the esc key on a keyboard if you use one. Cant speak for switch

Does anybody know how to do it on Xbox?

You can't exactly manually reposition the chat window per se but you can reposition it to the bottom left if you want

On Xbox
- click the LEFT analog stick once to expand the chat from top to bottom
- click it a second time to reposition it to the bottom
- click it a 3rd time to close the chat completely

After that it goes back to default.

Also to change chat channels like Local, table group and PM
-hold the left trigger then simply press the left or right button on the D-pad to change chat channels.

Oh then what omega said, hold the left trigger for a second or two then use the left or right arrow on d pad to go to which one you like
